BEITBRIDGE head of the Agritex Department Masawuso Mawocha has died.
Beitbridge District Development Coordinator Sikhangezile Mafu announced Mawocha’s passing saying he died at Mpilo Hospital in Bulawayo.
“Good morning colleagues…On a sad note .I do hereby announce the death of one of our own Mr Masauso Mawocha ,the District head for AGRITEX. He passed away today the 10th of February 2026 at Mpilo Hospital in Bulawayo. Funeral arrangements are yet to be advised,” said Mafu.
The announcement was on a 236-member platform for Beitbridge district heads of departments and members of the District Civil Protection Unit where the late Mawocha was part.
Messages of condolences started pouring in after Mafu’s shock announcement slightly after 9am.
Mawocha was a well known member and contrihutor to Team Beitbridge where his expertise in agriculture could be reflected in the transfortion of the district into a cropping area.
Traditionally Beitbridge was a known livestock area but in recent years it has transformed into a green belt courtesy of favourable rains and knowledgeable Agritex extension officers under the late Mawocha.
“Quite sad indeed, what a loss to the district and country at large- our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time,” said head of Intenational Organisation for Migration Nhamo Muleya.
Beitbridge East Member of Parliament Albert Nguluvhe said: “My deapest Condolences. May His Soul Rest in Peace.”
“Our condolences to the family and the department he so much served in the district. May his soul rest in peace,” said Methuseli Maphala, an environmental consultant in Beitbridge.
