In a beautiful and historic gesture, Beitbridge Government Primary School has celebrated the return of their Confederation of Schools Sport Association of Southern Africa (COSSASA) champion, Kelvin Zhuliwayo, on the opening day of the third term.
The school organized a special welcome for Kelvin and his teammates, who secured international gold medals in the 100×4 meters relay during competitions held in Zambia and Eswatini on August 27-29, 2024.
Kelvin also showcased his versatility by competing in the 100m and 200m races, achieving a commendable 4th place in both events.
In an interview with Ziyah Network News, the school’s sports master, Cleopas Gumbo, expressed his admiration for Kelvin’s work ethic and determination.
“Kelvin is very hardworking; that is what makes him the best. He has raised the flag of the school, town, and country high alongside his teammates. This is a historic achievement for both the school and himself,” he said.
“As a team, we are really proud of him, and we are happy to celebrate his great achievement. We also wish him a bright future as he prepares to write his Grade 7 exams this year.”
Faith Siyoka Moyo, the Headmistress at Beitbridge Government Primary School, highlighted the significance of celebrating achievements, inspiring students with Kelvin’s dedication and success.
“Everything we do, we do it wholeheartedly, and Kelvin did it wholeheartedly, flying our school’s flag high.” said the school head.
The celebration included speeches, songs, and a display of athletic prowess from fellow students, highlighting the spirit of teamwork and excellence that Kelvin embodies. This event not only honours Kelvin’s remarkable achievements but also serves as a powerful reminder to the entire school to strive for greatness in all their endeavors.
As the school rallied around their champion, it was clear that Kelvin’s success could inspire future generations of athletes at the school and the community of Beitbridge.
