The Salvation Army Corps in Beitbridge held a special Prisoners Fellowship Sunday on 12 October 2025, showing love and support to inmates at Beitbridge Prison.

The event brought together church members, correctional officers, and volunteers in a show of unity and compassion.

The theme of the day was “Share Love”,

The church donated 15 hampers to selected inmates, including 4 women.

The hampers contained essential items like soap, toothpaste, non-perishable food, and spiritual reading materials.

The event took place at the Beitbridge Salvation Army Corps Church and included prayers, music, and touching testimonies from a former prisoners, Kudakwashe Henry Phiri and Munyaradzi Nhau a current prisoner.

The goal was to remind the inmates they are still valued members of the community and that they deserve a second chance.

Major David Musungo, the Corps Officer of the Salvation Army in Beitbridge, said the event was not just about giving items but also about spreading hope and love.

“We believe every soul deserves love, dignity, and a second chance. Today is about giving hope and sharing love,” said Musungo.

Leroy Ndlovu, the Rehabilitation Officer from the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) Beitbridge, thanked the Salvation Army for its continued support.

He said such events are important for the emotional and spiritual well being of inmates.

The day also featured performances from the Salvation Army youth choir and a word of encouragement from the church leaders, who urged the public to support prisoner reintegration and promote forgiveness.

Among the special guests was the Beitbridge Mayor Peter Mafuta Pirato, who also donated groceries and gave words of encouragement to the congregation.

“We have also learnt a lot here, we are not different from those in prison,” he said.

“We need to remember and recognize those in prison, such that when they come back to the society, they will be fully accepted.”

“Let us all spread this good thing with other churches such that we can do it maybe once every year as Beitbridge community,” said Pirato.
