What began as a routine stop turned into a major anti-smuggling breakthrough after the Bubi River Anti-Smuggling Task Force intercepted what is believed to be the largest haul of marijuana and bronclear cough syrup ever seized in the area.

Officers stopped a vehicle driven by a man identified in a widely circulating video as Constable Mashava.

During the inspection, the team uncovered seven bales of marijuana and 12 boxes of 10ml bronclear cough syrup, substances commonly linked to illegal drug distribution.

According to one of the officers stationed at Bubi River, in a viral video, the driver allegedly attempted to bribe the team with US$200 to avoid a search.

He said the officers refused the offer and proceeded with the inspection, a decision that led directly to the discovery of the concealed consignment.

The suspect reportedly claimed the cargo was chicken cuts, a claim that quickly fell apart once officers conducted a thorough search of the vehicle.

Following the discovery, CID Drugs and Narcotics were immediately contacted and took over the case.

Both the driver and a woman who was traveling with him were arrested and are now facing charges as investigations continue.

The case has sparked widespread public reaction online, with many commending the officers for standing their ground and enforcing the law without fear or favor.
