A robbery suspect arrested by the Beitbridge Criminal Investigations Department recently is suspected to be a fugitive from South Africa who killed two policemen escorting him from court to prison.

Detectives at Beitbridge recently arrested an eight man gang that allegedly terrorised airtime vendors and money changers in the Kwalu (SDP) area of Beitbridge.

The eight are Tinashe Nkomo alias Sadamu or Jack (39), Future Moyo (35), Decent Moyo (35), Obey Chiware (38), Wiseman Muleya (30), Tendai Mapira (45), Khumbulani Mabhena (42) and Admire Charumbira (36).

An unregistered pistol and 36 rounds of live bullets was also found and is alleged to have been found on Nkomo now suspected to be the SA wanted fugitive.

“He is the suspect under the name Jabulani Moyo believed responsible for killing two policemen and escaping in their vehicle in Roodepoort,” said a source close to the investigations.

On Friday August 8 this year Jabulani Moyo outclassed two detectives and killed them, one on the spot and another died at admission in hospital after he shot them while they escorted him to court.

Soon after Gauteng Police released a statement.

“Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect/s after two police detectives who were transporting a suspect, Jabulani Moyo, were shot and killed in Roodepoort, on Friday, 08 August 2025.

“The two police officers, a Sergeant and Warrant Officer, were transporting Moyo back to prison after he appeared before Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on a case of business robbery that took place in February, 2023. While at Roodepoort CBD, they were shot at and disarmed. The Sergeant was certified dead on the crime scene while the Warrant Officer was taken to the hospital where he was certified dead on arrival.”

They said Moyo was seen driving the police vehicle that was later found abandoned a few kilometres from the crime scene.

Police have opened a case of murder, with two counts, for investigation.

“Police are appealing to anyone who might have information that can help in the investigation or assist in the apprehension of the suspect/s to please call the nearest police station or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
