Controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo has taken his gifting spree across border this time landing on the door of former Zimbabwean national team captain and Mamelodi Sundowns legend Peter Ndlovu. The legend received a brand-new 2024 BMW X6M Sport Competition valued at R2.6 million. The announcement was made on Chivayo’s social media platforms early morning today, where he praised Ndlovu’s monumental contributions to Zimbabwean football.
Chivayo took to his social media, describing Ndlovu as a legendary figure whose illustrious career has inspired many and underscores the potent blend of talent and hard work.
Ndlovu made history in 1992 by becoming the first African player to compete in the English Premier League (EPL), setting a benchmark for aspiring footballers across the continent.
“The greatest of all time… Zimbabwe’s football history is incomplete without mentioning one player who pushed boundaries and showed the world that when talent meets hard work, magic happens. from the dusty streets of Makokoba in Bulawayo, a young, super-talented footballer dreamed of becoming the pride of Zimbabwe’s football,” Chivayo noted.
He recounted Ndlovu’s remarkable journey beginning at Highlanders Football Club, where his talent captivated fans and elevated the sport in the nation.
Praising Ndlovu’s humility despite his remarkable success, Chivayo shared personal anecdotes about how Ndlovu’s performances inspired him as a child.
“I have always admired his exceptional ability to remain humble, professional, and unassuming, even with such immense talent and being sought after by numerous premier league clubs. growing up, he was my soccer hero, and I aspired to play like him. However, my billionaire body had other plans for me,” he joked, adding that while he may not have played the game professionally, he is grateful to support those who have excelled.
As a token of appreciation for Ndlovu’s significant impact on the game, Chivayo decided to present him with the luxury car. He instructed Ndlovu to collect the vehicle from Bronwyn Vogue Auto Motors in Sandton, ensuring that the gesture exemplifies his admiration for the former player.
