Harare – Popular preacher Apostle Talent Chiwenga is at the centre of a storm after his alleged former maid, Tsitsi Chendambuya (31), went public with explosive claims that the two had a secret sexual relationship spanning three years – and that much of it happened while his late wife was still alive.
In a bombshell interview on the DJ Ollah 7 Podcast, Chendambuya claimed she and the Apostle were intimate “countless times,” often inside the family home. She alleged that the encounters took place either when Chiwenga’s wife was away or asleep, and that the preacher would sometimes sneak into her room at night.
“Sometimes she would be there, sometimes not. Most times it happened at night when she was asleep. He rarely sleeps much, I think it’s a health issue. He would come to my room, sometimes just after she had gone to bed,” Chendambuya alleged.
The former maid claimed their first encounter happened when the Apostle’s wife was not at home. She also alleged that during their relationship, Chiwenga told her he wished they had met before he got married – and hinted at wanting her as a second wife.
“He told me, ‘I wish I had met you earlier.’ Maybe he wanted two wives, I don’t know,” she said.
According to Chendambuya, the alleged affair began in 2017 and continued until 2020, only slowing down when Chiwenga relocated to South Africa. She claimed she visited him there “occasionally.”
The sensational interview has split public opinion. Supporters of the preacher have rubbished the claims as fabrications meant to discredit him, with some suggesting political or religious rivals may be behind the allegations. Others insist the story raises troubling questions about abuse of power, morality, and hypocrisy in the church.
Chiwenga has not publicly responded to the allegations.
For now, the scandal is fuelling heated debates online – with some calling for the preacher to address the claims directly, and others warning against “trial by social media” without evidence.
