The Civil Registry Department has announced the establishment of two new sub-offices at the Zimbabwe Agricultural Showground in Harare and the Zimbabwe Trade Fair in Bulawayo, effective October 14, 2024. This initiative aims to streamline civil registration services and ensure that essential identity documents are more readily available to the public.
According to the department’s statement, the Harare sub-office will primarily issue national identity documents, while the Bulawayo office will handle birth certificates and other identity documents.
Both offices will be open from 07:45 hours to 15:00 hours, operating exclusively on weekdays.
The establishment of these sub-offices is part of the Civil Registry Department’s ongoing efforts to enhance service delivery and improve access to civil registration services. This initiative is aligned with the department’s goal of providing legal identity for all by 2030.
The Civil Registry Department encourages members of the public to take advantage of these new offices for the registration of births and the issuance of all identity documents, highlighting the critical role of proper identification in today’s society.
