A 23-year-old Beitbridge resident, Nigel Masona, has been sentenced 24 months imprisonment, of which 4 months were suspended for 5 years. A further 4 months were suspended on condition of restitution. He will serve an effective 16 months in prison for breaking into his in-law’s home and stealing ZAR4,900.

He was convicted and sentenced by Beitbridge Magistrates Court.

According to reports from NPAZ, states that on the month of October the complainant closed all the windows and locked all doors before he left the house together with his wife.

While he was away, he received a call from a neighbour informing him that there was a trespasser at his home.

The neighbour later informed him that it was his brother-in-law who was at the house.

When the complainant returned he found that the door had been forced open, the safe had been broken and ZAR4900 had been stolen from the house.

A police report was made, leading to the arrest of Nigel Masona.
