The widow of the legendary Zimbabwean musician Leonard Dembo, Eunice , popularly known as Mai Morgan, , has publicly reproved Zimdancehall artist Silent Killer for allegedly copying her late husband’s music without permission.

The warning comes after Silent Killer released a rendition of Dembo’s classic track “Musha Rudziiko,” which has gained significant popularity since its debut last year.

In a viral video shared online, Mai Morgan expressed her frustration over the way some musicians are misusing her husband’s music. She emphasised the importance of respecting the artistic integrity of Dembo’s work and urged fellow Zimbabwean musicians to seek permission before remixing or altering his songs.

“To those who take advantage that Leonard Dembo is dead and do however they like with his music, taking the songs as it is and putting their voices, ruining the rhythm of the song, we do not want to sue you guys but just follow the correct protocols, his kids are still alive,” she stated.

Silent Killer’s rendition of “Musha Rudziiko,” which incorporates his vocals over the Ndire Ndire instrumental by ZCC Mbungo Stars, quickly became a fan favorite, drawing cheers from audiences during his performances.

However, this success has not shielded him from criticism, as Mai Morgan’s message serves as a reminder of the legacy and rights associated with Dembo’s music.

As the music community reflects on this issue, it remains to be seen whether Silent Killer will respond to the concerns raised and whether the issue will be amicably resolved as intimated by Dembo’s widow.
