The Donkey Nutrition Day, which was scheduled to take place on January 22, in Dite Beitbridge RDC , Ward 2 has been postponed to February, with the new date yet to be announced.
The postponement comes amid concerns over flooding and continued wet weather conditions in the area.
The event aims to promote sustainable and drought-resistant feeding strategies to improve donkey health and welfare.
According to the programme seen by Ziyah News Network, the event will be held at the Maitazwitoma Nutrition Garden under the theme “Sustainable, drought-resistant feeding strategies for donkey health and welfare”
Speaking to Ziyah News Network, Beitbridge District Agritex Officer (DAO) Douglas Ncube said the decision was made after reports from a team that assessed the situation on the ground.
“We have heard of the flooded bridge in Dite from the team that went to check yesterday, as well as the forecast of wet weather in the coming days. Because it will be risky for people and farmers, we have therefore decided to postpone the activity to some time in February,” he said.
Ncube emphasized that despite the postponement, the program itself remains unchanged.
“However, the program remains as planned with no alterations,” he said.
Organizers are expected to announce the new date once conditions improve and it is safe for participants to attend.
