Sheasham (3) 4 Dulibadzimu United 0

Dulibadzimu United suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat to Sheasham FC in a Division One clash played at Bata Stadium on Saturday in Gweru.

The team played under protest saying they had sent most of their players on leave after learning from the Central Region Soccer League that Sheasham FC had withdrawn from the league.

“We registered our displeasure because the administration of the league did not officially communicate the return of Sheasham whose withdrawal they notified us in writing on October 5, 2025. Most of our senior players were not there and we fielded a hurriedly assembled side. We are waiting to hear from the league but to us that was just a friendly match,” said a Dulibadzimu official.

“We have not accepted that match as an official fixture, no, football must be run properly. Not that we undermine the administration but if the team’s departure was announced, it’s return should receive the same approach,” he said.

On Saturday Dulibadzimu struggled to find their rhythm throughout the game, while Sheasham dominated possession and took full advantage of their chances since the team was at home.

Some players of the visitors appeared to have been hit by stage fright.

Speaking after the match, Dulibadzimu United Team Manager Fednard “Mashefu” Matete admitted the team fell short on the day.

“It was just one bad day in the office. No excuses we lost the game,” said Matete. “We’re going back to the drawing board to prepare for our next fixture against Platinum Under-19.”

Matete also urged supporters to keep believing in the team.

“Tega hatikwanisi we can’t do it alone. We need our fans to stay behind us. We are Duli, and we will rise again,” he said.

He also took time to thank the club’s leadership and fans.

“I want to thank the executive and all the supporters who made the trip possible. Your support means a lot to us,” said Matete.

Despite the defeat, Dulibadzimu United remains focused on bouncing back in their next game.
