The imminent fall of Dynamos Football Club is a stark reminder that power without capacity is a recipe for disaster. As the once-mighty DeMbare languishes near the bottom of the league table, it’s clear that Bernard Marriott’s leadership has been woefully inadequate.

The club’s descent into chaos is a laughing stock, but beneath the ridicule lies a valuable lesson for other teams that obsession with power, devoid of competence, leads to catastrophic consequences.

It’s sad that the powers that be at Dynamos learnt nothing from the fall of Zimbabwe Saints. The parallels with the demise of Zimbabwe Saints are striking. Boardroom squabbles and poor administration can sink even the most iconic institutions.

It’s tragic that Dynamos’ fate is being sealed by selfishness and cluelessness. As the club teeters on the brink of relegation, it’s imperative that those in power take heed of the warning signs and course-correct before it’s too late. The “7 million souls” deserve better than to witness their beloved team being run into the ground. The  remaining 11 games will be finals on their own, the signs are omnous.
