The Prosecutor General of Zimbabwe has successfully obtained forfeiture orders for five motor vehicles linked to a case involving Carrington Mutevera, Robson Kamanga, and Vladmir Mupamombe. This legal victory follows the suspects’ arrest in 2021 in connection with multiple motor vehicle thefts.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, during the initial investigation, police detectives apprehended Mutevera, Kamanga, and Mupamombe, who subsequently provided information leading to the recovery of eleven stolen motor vehicles.

While six of these vehicles were positively identified by their lawful owners, the remaining five including two Toyota ISTs, a Toyota Allion, a Toyota Corolla, and an Isuzu KB2800 could not be traced back to their rightful owners.

The investigation revealed that the chassis numbers of the unidentifiable vehicles had been tampered with, further complicating their ownership status. In light of these findings, the Prosecutor General submitted an application to the State for the confiscation of the motor vehicles.

The matter was brought before the High Court, which granted the forfeiture order. As a result, the five motor vehicles will now be registered as state property, effectively removing them from the illegal market.

This case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement in Zimbabwe to combat vehicle theft and ensure that stolen property is returned to the state to prevent its misuse.
