YouTube creator and reality television personality Lasizwe Dambuza has taken a significant step in addressing his mental health by checking into a wellness facility, sharing his journey with his followers on Instagram.
Despite his thriving career and public persona, Lasizwe revealed that personal struggles have taken a toll on his well-being, prompting him to prioritize self-care during this difficult time.
In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Lasizwe expressed gratitude for his family especially his siblings who have provided unwavering support throughout his journey.
He emphasized the importance of taking a break from his demanding schedule to reflect and recharge.
“I’ve successfully checked myself into a mental health wellness centre. It’s been a beautiful long year. Time to rest, recharge, and reflect,” he wrote.
Notably, Lasizwe infused humor into his post, sharing that as part of the facility’s policies, his phone would be confiscated. A nurse stood by to ensure he completed his post before handing over the device.
“My team will be taking over my social media accounts after this post as the show has to go on (Awkward Dates and Social Media Campaigns),” he reassured his audience, demonstrating his commitment to maintain engagement even during his absence.
Lasizwe’s recent decision to seek professional help is not unprecedented. In November 2021, he opened up about his struggles with depression and anxiety, sharing that he had also checked into a wellness facility during that time.
“I’m going on a mental wellness retreat because I suffer from depression and anxiety. This is very overwhelming for me, and I want to be present. I want to be surrounded by doctors, psychologists, peace, and nature to help me process this milestone,” he confessed in a previous post.
Lasizwe’s candid discussions about mental health resonate with many and serve to destigmatize the conversation surrounding mental wellness in the entertainment industry and beyond.
