The Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe (MCAZ) and the Republican Unitary Enterprise Center for Examinations and Tests in Health Service (RUE-CETH) of Belarus have entered into a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening regulatory standards, ensuring the safety and efficacy of medicines, and fostering innovation in the pharmaceutical sector.

The agreement marks a significant milestone in the collaboration between the two organizations, building on the strong historical and friendly relations between Zimbabwe and Belarus. The partnership seeks to leverage on the expertise and strengths of both MCAZ and RUE-CETH to promote public health, improve access to high-quality medical products, and enhance the development of the pharmaceutical industry.

MCAZ Director-General, Mr. Richard Rukwata, hailed the partnership as a crucial step in building capacity within regulators in both countries, ensuring world-class medicines and health products regulation for the benefit of citizens. “This collaboration will enable us to share knowledge, enhance regulatory practices, and ultimately benefit the citizens of both countries by ensuring access to safe and effective medicines,” said Mr. Rukwata.

The signing ceremony, held at the RUE-CETH Office in Minsk, Belarus, was attended by key representatives from both organizations, reflecting their mutual commitment to advancing healthcare standards and regulatory excellence. This partnership is poised to have a profound impact on the health and wellbeing of citizens in both Zimbabwe and Belarus, and will likely pave the way for future collaborations in the pharmaceutical sector
