Harare, Zimbabwe — President Emmerson Mnangagwa called upon researchers, innovators, and industry leaders to fully embrace their creative potential and innovative capabilities to drive the nation forward.
Speaking 13th Zimbabwe International Research Symposium, held this week in Harare, President Mnangagwa underscored the transformative effects of advancements in fields such as artificial intelligence, energy, and health on economies and societies. He emphasized that while significant progress has been made, further efforts are essential at both regional and continental levels for Africa to fully realize its potential.
Mnangagwa stressed the importance of being proactive and innovative in order to work towards a better future for everyone on the continent.
“The emerging frontiers of scientific discoveries and technological advancement require us to be bold, innovative, and relentless in our pursuit for shared progress that realizes the broader aspirations outlined in the Africa Union Agenda 2063,” he said.
He further urged the researchers and innovators to creatively utilize the resources and advantages they have to drive progress and development in the country.
“I challenge researchers, innovators, and captains of industry gathered here today, to leverage the competitive advantage of Zimbabwe, SADC, and the entire African continent to leapfrog the modernization and industrialization of our country,” he urged.
He expressed optimism about Africa’s capabilities and the determination of its leaders to foster advancements for the future.
“Africa cannot be left behind. After all, we are a haven of pioneers, trailblazers, and visionaries. The current crop of African leaders have confidence in our great people on the continent, and we are ready to support you to scale new heights in scientific, innovation, and technological achievements,” he added.
His call to action serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility to build a brighter future for the continent, driven by the ingenuity and determination of its people.
