THE Municipality of Beitbridge on Sunday announced it had gone separate ways with developer Kingdom Lifestyle who was responsible for the development of Matibe suburb (Eastlea) low density suburb.
The termination of contract was triggered by non-performance, town clerk Loud Ramakgapola.
The development means that all people with properties in that area should no longer make any payment to Kingdom Lifestyle but redirect these payments to the MoB.
In a public notice circulated on social media Sunday, MoB said it will not be responsible for any financial remittances made to Kingdom lifestyle.
“The Municipality of Beitbridge wishes to inform all beneficiaries of the Matibe suburb (Eastlea) stands that the contract between the Municipality of Beitbridge and Kingdom Lifestyle has been officially terminated,” read the notice.
MoB said following this contract termination, all beneficiaries are advised that all outstanding or ongoing payments for Eastlea stands must be made directly to the Beitbridge Municipality.
“No further payments should be remitted to Kingdom Lifestyle. The Municipality will not accept liability for funds paid to Kingdom Lifestyles after this notice. Beneficiaries are encouraged to visit the Municipal Finance Offices with their proof of identity and previous payment receipts to reconcile their accounts and update their records,” read the notice.
MoB invited clients to their offices for further inquiries or clarification.
In an interview with Ziyah News Network Ramakgapola said there was no development in Matibe.
“The developer did not surface the roads, supply water or sewer systems,” he said.
“We understand he is challenging the decision but we are determined and we will meet him in court,” said Ramakgapola.
Efforts efforts to get comment from kingdom lifestyle director Sithole were fruitless.
