Harare – Shocking new information has surfaced about how six Zebra Kiss employees allegedly detained and brutally assaulted a female passenger at the company’s Harare garage, raising serious concerns over misconduct and passenger safety.

The incident, which occurred on June 5, 2025, was brought to light during a court hearing on June 10.

Court documents reveal that Charlotte Dube, a 27-year-old woman from Stoneridge, was targeted following a dispute over a missing sack of goods. Charlotte had just arrived from Zambia when she was accused by employee Romario Mugabe of theft, despite having only declared a green bag at boarding.

Without proper investigation, Romario reportedly detained Charlotte, slapped her twice, and ordered her back onto the bus. What happened next was described as a coordinated assault involving several Zebra Kiss staff members.

Witnesses say the crew used makeshift weapons sticks from a guava tree to beat Charlotte repeatedly on her back and buttocks. One employee, Munashe Nhambura, poured cold water over her body, while Romario continued to slap her during the ordeal. Another employee, Pardon Chivhanga, was said to have given instructions throughout the attack.

The assault, which left Charlotte injured and distressed, only ended after the victim was physically subdued and given water to clean herself. She later received medical attention for multiple injuries.

Despite the severity of the incident, the six employees involved were released on bail and are scheduled to appear back in court on July 17, 2025.

The case has sparked widespread outrage and calls for increased accountability within the transport industry to protect passengers from similar abuse.
