Beitbridge — Families in Beitbridge are set to benefit from expanded access to quality education following the commissioning of Oakleigh House Trust School by the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Hon. Torerayi Moyo, today.
The new school comes at a time when many institutions in the border town are struggling with overcrowded classrooms, a situation that has placed immense pressure on both teachers and learners.
Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution in Matabeleland South, Cde Abednico Ngluvhe, said the launch of Oakleigh House Trust School was a timely response to the district’s growing educational needs.
“The addition of another school in the district means that both parents and learners now have a wider choice, while also easing enrollment pressure on already strained schools,” said Cde Ngluvhe in his welcome remarks.
“This will particularly benefit learners with special needs, who often suffer in overcrowded classes.”
Beyond solving infrastructure challenges, Oakleigh House is also seen as a beacon of modern learning in Beitbridge.
The school has been designed to provide a heritage-based education that emphasizes innovation, skills development, and character formation.
“What we are witnessing today reflects the vision of His Excellency, President Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa, that no one and no place should be left behind as we strive for an empowered and prosperous nation by 2030,” Cde Ngluvhe added.
The project was made possible through collaboration between the school authorities, local leadership, and the Government of Zimbabwe, which has placed education at the center of national development.
For Beitbridge residents, the commissioning marks not just the opening of new classrooms, but a promise of better opportunities for their children. As Cde Ngluvhe emphasized, the goal is for Oakleigh House Trust School to set new benchmarks in academic excellence and co-curricular activities, ensuring learners in the border town compete at the highest level nationally.
