The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has launched an investigation into a distressing video that has been circulating on social media, depicting the abuse of two minor boys by their neighbours.
The video, shared by Crime Watch Zimbabwe, shows a man in blue trousers brutally assaulting the two young boys. In the footage, the man can be heard ordering the boys to strip, claiming it didn’t matter if one of them was not wearing an underwear. The assault continued as other adults, including a woman with a small log, joined in the beating.
According to reports, the children’s mother lives in the same neighborhood as the suspects. One of the minors is said to have difficulty walking and requires medical attention following the attack.
In a statement, the ZRP confirmed that the suspects have been identified and that investigations are underway to ensure justice is served. The incident occurred in the Madziwa area of Mashonaland Central Province.
“The suspects have been identified and investigations are currently underway to ensure that the law takes its course without fear or favour,” read the police statement read.
The disturbing video has raised concerns about the well-being of children, especially when they are subjected to abuse by those close to them. This incident calls for urgent action from the government to address the growing problem of child abuse in the country.
