The President of Zimbabwe, His Excellency Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa, has emphasized the crucial role of innovation in driving modernization and industrialization at the 2024 Presidential Innovation Fair and Awards Ceremony held in Harare.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Mnangagwa articulated the urgent need to embrace the 4th Industrial Revolution, which is characterized by rapid digital and technological transformations echoing a vision of sustainable economic growth and improved quality of life through scientific discovery.

“Innovation is not just a buzzword; it is an essential reality that must be prioritised to drive the modernization of our beloved motherland,” he stated.

The President highlighted that the global market is increasingly demanding innovative models that enhance profitability and provide value for the nation’s currency.

“By investing in innovation, we gradually enhance our nation’s competitiveness,” he asserted, calling upon all sectors to embrace this transformative approach.

Reflecting on the achievements made under the Heritage Based Education 5.0 philosophy, President Mnangagwa noted the significant milestones reached in aligning education with the practical skills required by a rapidly expanding industrial landscape.

“As we march towards Vision 2030, the integration of theoretical and practical training is becoming more evident,” he remarked.

The President extended his congratulations to the institutions of higher learning across the nation for their commitment and adaptability in revolutionizing the education system. As Zimbabwe forges ahead, the President’s call to action serves as a reminder of the pivotal role that creativity and innovation will play in shaping the nation’s economic future and achieving the ambitious goals set forth in Vision 2030.
