THE Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) has warned the public regarding a fraudulent social media post claiming its governor John Mushayavanhu backs a fraudulent promise of USD$6,500 per month for opening a bank account with USD$230.

In a notice on Monday , RBZ dismissed this claim.

“The misleading post utilizes an Artificial Intelligence-generated voice to impersonate Governor Dr. Mushayavanhu,” RBZ said .

RBZ said Mushayavanhu is misrepresented as speaking in an interview with SABC News, promoting a fictitious system that allegedly boosts account balances automatically.

The RBZ is urging the public to exercise vigilance and avoid interacting with the post or any similar initiatives that promise unusually high returns quickly.

For verified updates, the RBZ directs the public to its official communication channels: www.rbz.co.zw, Facebook – ReserveBankZim, X – @ReserveBankZim, and WhatsApp Channel – Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe.
