Communities in Matabeleland South are set to benefit from ongoing road projects aimed at improvement of mobility boosting development, according to Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Albert Nguluvhe.

“The government is focused on building better roads to connect people to markets, schools, hospitals, and economic opportunities.”

The tour began with the commissioning of a new Road Maintenance Unit Camp in Beitbridge District.

“This facility will help speed up road repairs and improve road quality across the province, especially along the busy Beitbridge–Masvingo Highway,” Nguluvhe said.

“This road will improve movement and trade, especially as it links Zimbabwe to neighbouring countries,” he said referring to a stretch along the Bulawayo road being repaired.

In Gwanda District, the delegation is expected to assess another 10km section of the Gwanda–Maphisa Road he said will help connect rural communities to health services, education, and markets.

The tour will also take him to the Plumtree–Maitengwe Border Post Road in Bulilima.

“This road is important for trade between Zimbabwe and Botswana,” he said.

“These road developments are part of our Vision 2030 plan to build a modern, connected, and prosperous Zimbabwe.”
