Mutare —The Sanganai Hlanganani Tourism Expo has officially launched today at Mutare Sports Club, with exhibitors from all across the country showcasing their offerings. The event is set to be officially opened later today, promising a platform that highlights Zimbabwe’s rich cultural heritage and economic potential.
Among the exhibitors is the Ministry of Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Affairs for Manicaland Province. Their display features war veterans, non-combatant cadres, ex-political prisoners, detainees, restrictees, war collaborators, heroes’ dependants, and war victims.
The provincial ministry is showcasing photographs and biographies to honor these local heroes, many of whom have been under-documented, emphasizing the importance of recognizing their contributions on their own land.
In an interview with Ziyah News Network, Witness Mutambe, District Field Officer for Mutare, expressed his appreciation.
“We applaud the organizers for bringing this event to our city. It elevates us by bringing international recognition to our local heroes worldwide,” he stated
The Binga Rural District Council is also participating, showcasing locally made products such as Jatropha soap, produced by local communities through value addition initiatives.
Zilongexyo Muzamba, District Business and Economic Development Officer, highlighted the potential for collaboration during the expo.
“We are hopeful that this event will create opportunities for partnerships and business growth for our community,” he added
Adding to the diversity of local crafts, a group of women from Chimanimani’s Biriiri area is exhibiting bags and carpets made from makavi sourced from muunze and mupfute trees.
They have appealed to authorities to establish a dedicated market in Chimanimani, enabling them to sell their products at fair prices and support their livelihoods.
The Sanganai Hlanganani Tourism Expo continues throughout the week, serving as a vital platform to celebrate Zimbabwe’s heroes, culture, and economic development.
