A tragic incident unfolded at house number 2624 in Beitbridge’s Dulibadzimu Township in the early hours of the morning, . A yet-to-be-identified man lost his life at the hands of a mob, who decided to take the law into their own hands by brutally assaulting him leaving him for dead.
The intruder is alleged to have entered the house through the toilet window.
The occupants of the house, including a lady who opened the door thinking it was a neighbour, were shocked to find an intruder. She quickly alerted others from the same house who converged beginning the assault that eventually led to the demise of the man. The mercilessly assault is said to have lasted long enough to wake the neighbourhood, with one eyewitness alleging that a individual known as “Dread” or “General” used his karate skills to pummel the victim. Dread is said to have joined the assault later on but he might have thrown the sucker punch that sucked the air out of the deceased.
Despite pleas from worried neighbours to stop the beating, the mob continued to attack the man, dragging him to the road and leaving him there. Ambulance services were eventually called, but it was too late – the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A neighbour to house number 2624 who spoke to the Ziyah News Crew told of how the men pleaded for mercy until he could speak no more. Dread, who is referred to General in the streets has been turned on by the other suspects citing him as the chief instigator of the murder. to house number He was taken into custody, joined by occupants of the house which is at the center of this gruesome murder.
Efforts to get a comment from the police were unsuccessful, with Superintendent Nyakureva referring Ziyah News Network to Dispol Ncube, whose phone was unreachable.
