SPICE Junxion has intensified its recruitment of chilli farmers in Beitbridge as the company expands its out-grower programme and prepares to sign new farmer contracts.

Speaking to Ziyah News Network, Designation Officer Preacher Chemhere said the company is currently mobilising farmers across several wards in the district.

He said tthe company has partnered with other organisations in Beitbridge that focus on linking farmers to markets, strengthening the marketing side of the chilli value chain.

Chemhere highlighted the key role being played by Agritex in mobilising and supporting farmers.

“With Agritex being our major player helping mobilise farmers, tomorrow, Friday February 20, we will be signing contracts with some farmers and providing them with inputs,” he said.

The recruitment drive comes as the company continues to monitor progress from farmers who joined the programme last year.

Spice Junxion introduced chilli as a commercial crop early last year, sponsoring 13 farmers four in Jopembe, six in Tongwe, and three in Siyoka covering about 10 hectares.

harvest once the weather dries up,” said Chemhere.

He reassured farmers that Spice Junxion will honour its buy-back agreement once the chilli is ready.

“We’re committed to buying back the dried chilli as promised, honouring our partnership with farmers ” he said.

He encouraged more farmers to join the initiative, saying the company remains committed to providing market access, technical support and long-term partnership to improve farmer incomes.
