The Zimbabwean music industry is reeling from the loss of renowned Sungura musician Tatenda Pinjisi, who died on Sunday after sustaining serious injuries in a car accident last Friday.
The tragic incident, which occurred near Norton, also claimed the lives of two of Pinjisi’s bandmates and a female passenger.
Pinjisi, known for his hit song “Saina” and his unique blend of soft gospel with Sungura music, was traveling with his band when their vehicle was involved in a catastrophic collision.
He was transported to Sally Mugabe Central Hospital in Harare, where he faced severe head trauma and multiple bone fractures while being treated in the intensive care unit.
Despite the medical team’s efforts to save him, which included urgent diagnostic procedures such as CT scans and numerous X-rays, Pinjisi’s injuries were too grave.
His untimely death has shocked both his fans and fellow musicians, who have taken to social media to share heartfelt tributes honoring his contributions to Zimbabwean music.
Pinjisi’s vibrant performances and innovative approach to music had made him a rising star in the Sungura genre, and his legacy will be remembered by the countless fans and colleagues he touched throughout his promising career which has unfortunately been cut short.
