The stage is set for the biggest match in African women’s football as Nigeria’s Super Falcons take on Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses in the final of  the 2024 (played in 2025) Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) on Saturday, July 26 in Morocco.

The 9 time champions, Nigeria, who are  aiming for a record 10th WAFCON title, have been strong throughout the tournament, while the Atlas Lionesses look redeem themselves and secure their first continent title following their 2022, 2-1 defeat against South Africa in the final.

Morocco and Nigeria will battle each for the top prize, with the good news being that the Confederation of African Football has doubled the winner ‘s award to USD 1 million  and new trophy.

Meanwhile, Ghana’s Black Queens and dethroned champions South Africa will lock horns for pride in the third-place match at the Stade Larbi Zaouli in Casablanca, today.

Banyana Banyana were beaten 2-1 by nine-time champions Nigeria in the first semi-final, before Ghana missed out on a place in the final following a heartbreaking 4-2 loss via penalties to hosts Morocco, after a 1-1 draw in regular and extra time.
