Learners from Wellton Primary School and the Wellton College LEO Club have launched a series of charitable initiatives to support the Safe Haven children’s home and local families in need.
The recent wave of kindness began with the Grade 6 class, who organized a heartfelt Easter donation drive.
The learners collected and delivered essential clothing and blankets to the children at Safe Haven, aiming to provide both physical warmth and emotional support to the residents.
This initiative is part of a broader culture of service at the institution. The Wellton College LEO Club driven by the core pillars of Leadership, Experience, and Opportunity has remained active in its mission to serve the community. Their efforts follow a successful Easter celebration hosted at the same home last year.
Expanding their reach beyond the children’s home, the LEO Club recently identified a local family in a difficult season. The students donated a new wheelchair and a significant supply of groceries, providing immediate relief and improved mobility for the family members.
School Head, Tafadzwa Chindanya, said that these projects are more than just charitable acts, they are a fundamental part of the students’ education. By engaging directly with the community, students are learning the value of empathy and civic responsibility.
“These acts show that at Wellton, compassion, integrity, and purpose are at the heart of our endeavors,” Chindanya said. “We are committed to raising a generation capable of making a positive, lasting impact in the community.”
