ZANU PF on Saturday January 31, conducted a cell verification exercise across Beitbridge.

The programme forms part of the party’s nationwide efforts to update membership registers.

The exercise is carried out periodically.

In Ward 2, where the Minister of State for Matabeleland South Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Albert Nguluvhe, is also a cell member, party supporters from Cells, Mohadi 1 and Mohadi 3 gathered at Stubbs Park for the verification process.

Speaking during the event, Nguluvhe stressed the importance of strong party structures beginning with ordinary members at grassroots level.

“We must go back to the roots the simple, ordinary members because they are the ones who support the party. The structures of ZANU PF must start from the grassroots,” he said.

He directed party members to establish proper cell structures within the next three months.

“I am giving you three months to make sure your cells are properly structured and functional,” Nguluvhe said.

Nguluvhe also cautioned members against bypassing grassroots structures when seeking leadership positions.

“One cannot try to get a position at district or provincial level without going through the cell. Everything starts at the cell,” he said.

He asked ruling party cells to engage potential members from churches that gather in their cells to increase membership.

Nguluvhe went on to visit some of the cells in the Beitbridge East Constituency.
