An 18 year old youth from from Dulibadzimu in Beitbridge has appeared before the Beitbridge Regional Court facing two counts of rape involving a 13 minor.
Leon Ngwenya appeared before Regional Magistrate Charity Maphosa.
He is charged with rape as defined in Section 65 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act Chapter 9:23.
The State alleges that on two separate occasions sometime in July 2026 the Ngwenya went to the complainant’s place of residence in Dulibadzimu during the night when her parents were not at home and had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.
The matter came to light in September 2026 after the complainant’s mother received information and questioned her daughter.
The juvenile opened up and disclosed the alleged abuse.
The matter was reported at ZRP Beitbridge Urban on October 2, 2026 under CR 70/26.
The complainant was referred to Beitbridge District Hospital for medical examination.
The prosecutor Tawanda Chigavazira told the court that the accused will plead guilty when he comes for his fast track trial Wednesday.
