BEITBRIDGE West Member of Parliament, Thusani Masiṱa Ndou, has commended the Tshimimile No. 15 Line Village Business Unit for successfully utilising their Presidential Borehole Scheme to establish a thriving farming project.
Tshimimile No. 15 Line Village Business Unit is located at Shashe Ward 8 in Beitbridge West Constituency.
Tshimimile village received a solar powered borehole under the Presidential Borehole Scheme in 2025.
A year later, in 2026, the community had produced impressive agricultural products.
In an interview with Ziyah News Network, MP Ndou praised the farmers for making productive use of the borehole by growing a variety of crops, including maize, beans, cabbages, tomatoes and other types of vegetables.
“I am very much pleased and happy with the work being done at Shashe. The Tshimimile people recently harvested their maize and have also grown different types of vegetables and tomatoes using the Presidential Borehole Scheme,” said Ndou.
Ndou also said that members of the village business unit are preparing to showcase their produce at the Beitbridge District Agricultural Show, scheduled for Wednesday, July 29, 2026.
Ndou expressed hope that other communities in Beitbridge West that have also benefited from the Presidential Borehole Scheme including Limpopo, Malala, Swereki and Makakavhule would follow the Tshimimile example and fully utilise the facilities.
“I encourage people across my constituency to make good use of these boreholes by growing crops, accessing clean drinking water and providing water for their livestock. They can rear animals, produce feed for their livestock and improve their livelihoods through hard work,” he said.
Shashe is among the areas that have benefited from several Presidential development initiatives, including the installation of boreholes and the construction of a NetOne network booster, which is expected to be completed before the end of the year 2026.
Village Business Units (VBUs) are community-owned, solar-powered commercial agriculture hubs designed to transform rural subsistence farming into profitable agribusinesses.
The government targets establishing these 1-hectare units across all 35,000 villages, with hundreds already operational nationwide.
These have transformed the lives of villagers in drought prone areas where all year round farming now thrives.
