As the country’s 44th independence day draws nearer, Beitbridge District is gearing up for the celebrations, as the nation remembers a special day in the history calendar of Zimbabwe.
The main District celebrations are set to be held at Dulibadzimu stadium in the town of Beitbridge, festivities will also cascade to ward levels to mark this special day.
The district state functions committee met today to receive reports from various sub committees tasked with mobilising resources and track progress towards the hosting of the event.
There can never be a celebration without food and true to that adage, a report from the catering committee indicated its all systems go as it has sourced a huge chunk of their requirements including firewood, water, utensils, ingredients and the cooking personnel of 10 cooks all to be medically certified and logistics of how the multitudes who will grace the event will be fed.
Various sub committees also presented their feedback, all indicating readiness to give the district the celebrations it deserves.This year’s commemorations will be held under the theme “Zim@44: Unity, Peace and Development Towards Vision 2030” galvanising the nations towards the attainment of a middle income economy.
