The border town of Beitbridge has been bestowed the honour to host the Matabeleland South province Diaspora Investment Conference set for July 4th -6th  as the country continues to lay the foundation for Zimbabwe’s diaspora community to effectively invest back home beyond the remittances, itself a huge source of foreign currency for the country hitting 1.873 billion last year.

In statement to the media, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade announced the event which dovetails into the vision of transforming Zimbabwe into an upper middle income economy by year 2030.

“In line with the country’s Devolution agenda of ensuring that Provinces become dynamic economic hubs that attract investments, the Matabeleland South Province is scheduled to host a Diaspora Investment Conference, from 4 to 6 July 2024, in Beitbridge. The Conference will be held under the theme “Matabeleland South Province-Unlocking New Investment Frontiers through Diaspora Community Engagement”.

The conference will be held in a hybrid format allowing for both physical and virtual participation the Zimbabwean Diaspora Community and stakeholders in various sectors of investment. Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) mandated to enhance Diaspora participation in National Development will also be partaking in the conference.

It is a gathering that will present opportunities for the Diaspora Community, local and foreign investors and the private sector to participate and engage in dialogue on the potential investment opportunities and possible partnerships the Matabeleland South Province has to offer.
