THE Beitbridge West community is now accessing local network following the completion of the NetOne network booster installation at Shashe Community.
Beitbridge West Member of Parliament, Thusani Masiṱa Ndou, confirmed that the booster has been completed and the community now has access to local networks.
“The booster is now finished and the Beitbridge West community can now access our local network, netone ,” Ndou said.
Ndou described the initiative as a milestone in bridging the digital divide and ensuring that residents of Beitbridge West are no longer cut off from Zimbabwe’s local networks.
For decades, residents of Beitbridge West areas such as Shashe, Jakukange, Iphai, Masera and Limpopo have relied on foreign networks like Botswana’s Orange and South Africa’s MTN, Vodacom and Telkom due to the absence of local coverage.
Ndou said this development will completely transform the lives of thousands of people in Beitbridge West who depended on foreign networks.
He also thanked His Excellency, President E.D. Mnangagwa, for his commitment to ensuring clear calls, better internet and expanded digital opportunities for these communities.
This network development is part of the Presidential Projects Scheme and marks a significant step towards improving connectivity in a region that has remained isolated from Zimbabwean local networks since independence.
Local schoolchildren and teachers will now not only rely on Starlink at their schools but will also benefit from easier and more reliable access to local networks.
