THE Beitbridge regional manager at the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority Lonto Ndlovu has been appointed the acting Customs and Excise Commissioner, Ziyah News Network can reveal.

Ndlovu ascended to the acting position recently after the contract of former long-serving Customs Commissioner Batsirai Chadzingwa was not renewed.

In an April 3, 2026 notice to shipping and forwarding agents Zimra Ndlovu said she was appointed acting in the second quarter of the 2026 season.

She made the announcement to authenticate her office communication as regards alignment of the Customs and Excise ASYCUDA clearance system adjustments with removal of some diesel taxes by Government.

“This is to advise that l, Mrs. Lonto Ndlovu, has been appointed to be the Acting Commissioner Customs & Excise for this 2nd quarter of 2026,” she said.

“The current matter we have at hand which we wish to share with you is the change in diesel levies. I believe a number of us have seen the Ministry of Finance communication on the reduction of these levies.”

She said the necessary delicate changes in the ASYCUDA system required a couple of hours to effect.
“We could not finalise this process before 12 midnight despite our efforts,” she said.

Zimra did not anticipate getting lots of diesel entries on the day, she said, advising shipping agents that if any, business continuity (BCP) plans will be invoked.

“BCP might be lodgement of deposit equal to new duties, with report order being issued, manual entries or other suitable arrangements. Partners with diesel importations can contact their respective Regional Managers,” she said.

It was expected then the system would reflect the new changes from April 4, 2026.
