CORRECTIONAL Kings FC successfully held its much-anticipated player trials over the weekend at the ZRP New Camp Grounds in Gwanda.
This marks an important step in the club’s preparations for its debut season in the Zifa Matabeleland South Division 2 league.
Speaking to Ziyah News Network, ZPCS Correctional Officer Tikiti Terence confirmed that the trials were a success, with over 30 players scouted during the selection process.
“We are pleased with the turnout and the level of talent displayed,” he said.
“We are still working on the ZIFA registration of the team and players. Training has already commenced,” h said
Tikiti said the trials attracted participants from across the province showing the growing interest in the club.
“Notably, some officers travelled from as far as Beitbridge and Esigodini to take part, demonstrating a high level of enthusiasm and commitment,” he said.
To ensure a fair and effective assessment, organisers divided the participants into two teams, which competed in friendly matches designed to evaluate individual skill, fitness, and teamwork.

In an exclusive interview, Correctional Kings FC Head Coach, Principal Correctional Officer N. Ncube, expressed confidence in the team’s future.
“I am truly impressed with the positive response from both officers and community members,” said Ncube.
“I am confident that, with the right selection, Correctional Kings FC will rise to the challenge and perform well throughout the 2026 season. We are prepared to handle the pressures of the league,” he said
With trials completed and training already underway, Correctional Kings FC now shifts focus to finalising registration and building a competitive squad ahead of the upcoming Division 2 campaign.
