A Beitbridge woman has been granted a five-year protection order against her husband after the magistrate’s court ruled that his attempts to evict her from their home were unlawful.

On February 16, 2026, Previous Ndou appeared before Magistrate Mbonisi Kaweni seeking for a protection order from her husband.

Ndou, told the court that her husband, Samuel Kwinda, had forced her to leave their shared residence and ordered her to return to her rural homestead.

She also alleged that he physically assaulted her.

The couple’s home is in Tshaswingo Village, under the jurisdiction of Chief Matibi, in Beitbridge East.

In court, Kwinda said the two were no longer living together and objected to the protection order

Kwinda claimed that he had not obtained any court authority to evict her yet he proceeded evicting her.

He said he moved away and left her staying at his father’s homestead, but insisted he did not want her at his place because their relationship had ended.

Kwinda also confirmed that no customary procedures had been followed to formally return her to her parents.

When asked by the magistrate whether he still wanted to evict her, Kwinda said yes, but added that he had no objection to an order preventing him from assaulting her.

Magistrate Kaweni ruled that his actions were unlawful and, by consent, issued an order barring Kwinda from evicting Ndou from her home or assaulting her.

The protection order will remain in force for five years.
