Two Burglars from Mbebvi farm in Darwendale have been slapped with an effective 12 months prison term for burglary.
The two Saimon Mbewe (34) and Lavender (42) broke into the house of Serena Manyenge by breaking the padlock using unknown object. They were arraigned before the Chinhoyi Magistrates’ Court.
Whilst inside, the accused persons stole an assortment of groceries and household property, they sold some of the stolen property the following day.
Some of the stolen property was recovered from the people who had brought it, following tip offs and total value of stolen items is USD3168 and USD 880 was recovered.
The accused persons were sentenced to 24 months imprisonment by the Chinhoyi Magistrates Court of which 6 months were suspended
A further 6 months were suspended on condition of restitution.
The first accused person’s 3 months sentenced from a previous sentence was brought into effect. He will serve an effective 15 months in prison
