Controversial socialite Namatai Bhobho, known as Malloti, is embroiled in another scandal after reportedly fleeing from City Parking officials and damaging the clamp attached to her vehicle in Harare CBD yesterday.
The incident unfolded when Malloti allegedly parked her car illegally and was being fined by City Parking officials when she opted for a more confrontational approach.
Rather than paying the fine or attempting to resolve the situation amicably, Malloti jumped into her car and sped off, forcefully dislodging and damaging the clamp that had been affixed to her vehicle.
Amid the chaos, footage circulated on social media showing a man in civilian clothing identified as a City Parking official taking retaliatory action by smashing Malloti’s windshield with the broken clamp.
This violent escalation has since sparked heated debates online, with many expressing outrage at the official’s actions, arguing that he had no right to destroy private property in response to Malloti’s resistance.
In response to this incident, Malloti took to social media to defend her actions, stating, “It was now late and I had nowhere to pay the fine. I would rather fix my car than pay to council.” she wrote
Currently, City Parking has not released an official statement addressing the incident. However, sources within the Harare City Council suggest that officials are considering legal action against Malloti for damaging public property and evading a parking penalty.
