THE Central Region Soccer League Division One’s top 8 performers are set for a quarterfinal blockbuster in the inaugural Dream Inn-GMI Super 8 Challenge Cup.
Two matches are scheduled for Saturday, 5 September 2026 and two for Sunday, 6 September 2026.
Based on current league standings, Blanket Mine FC, Kwekwe United FC, Gwanda Pirates, Chapungu FC, Tongogara FC, Super Strikers, Grain Tigers and West Nicholson head into the Cup vying to make history.
In a notable fixture, Gwanda town will stand still as all eyes turn to Gwanda Pirates vs West Nicholson at Pelandaba Stadium on Saturday for the derby.
The Gwanda derby is expected to breathe life into the Matabeleland South town.
Air Force side Chapungu FC will host fellow army side Tongogara FC at Ascot Stadium on Saturday.
The two sides are among the most consistent teams in the Central Region Soccer League Division One.
Log leaders Blanket Mine will host Grain Tigers FC at Sabiwa Stadium on Sunday.
Prior to their Sunday date, both teams must fulfill their league assignment against each other on Wednesday, meaning they will have back to back clashes in five days at the same venue.
Blanket Mine are now chasing a treble, competing in the Central Region Soccer League, the ZIFA Munhumutapa Challenge Cup and the Super 8 Cup.
Kwekwe United will host Gwanda side Super Strikers FC at Baghdad Stadium on Sunday at 15:00hrs.
Kwekwe United have the experience and have been consistent in the Central Region Soccer League Division One.
Super Strikers will look to upset the giants of the Central Region Soccer League at their own back yard.
The champion of the Dream Inn-GMI Super 8 Challenge Cup will walk away with USD $16000.
