It was a match billed to showcase the best in the Central Region Division One Soccer League as this was a clash of the top two teams. Celebrations buy the visiting fans, officials and players when the referee blew the final whistle were telling, expressive of how it was indeed a tough match, a top of the table clash that ended in a one all stalemate.

The home team, Dulibadzimu United would feel its two points dropped having led from the tenth minute of the first half until minute 78 of the match when a lapse in concentration allowed the visiting team to equalise.

The match began at a frantic pace with the home team piling the pressure upfront with neat inter change of passes between the midfield and the front line of Evidence Chirasva, Bennedict Sithole and Nyakwangwa Robert.

Pressure from Duliz eventually told, a beautiful free kick was swung in from the right side of attack, headed back across goal before being prodded into the net by the alert Evidence in front of the popular Soweto end.

In the lead now, Duliz seemingly dropped a gear down choosing to sit back more with the usually offensive captain Munashe Bamara deep alongside Matsika who is usually the initiator of attacks as he sits just in front of the defence. Tongogara’s right wing of attack led by Liberty Dube was enterprising but the final ball into the box was elusive for the better part of the match.

The match became more of a ding dong affair concentrated in midfield with very little to separate the two teams until the 78th minute of the game when an unusual lapse in concentration by the Duliz defence allowed Njelele Ivin to score from just outside the box which was crowded. The excellent Duliz goalie was beaten for the only the third time this season.

From then on, Tongogara were playing for time and last minute forays by Duliz did not yield any change in the score line as the two best teams shared the spoils.

In the end a stalemate was a fair result for both teams gave it their all. Duliz attacking third looks in dire need of shoring up with a proper number nine that can bang in the goals consistently if they are to entertain any hopes of reaching the promised land of premiership football.
