Seven people lost their lives in a fatal road traffic accident occurred yesterday at the 330-kilometer peg along the Harare-Bulawayo Road. The accident involved an Inter Africa bus which collided into a stationary truck.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the accident.
The accident resulted in an unknown number of injuries. The bodies of the victims were taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital mortuary while the injured are admitted at the same hospital.
Meanwhile, the ZRP warns the public, especially communities along the highways, that it is a serious criminal offence to take advantage of a road traffic accident and start to loot /steal goods from haulage trucks or vehicles and taking them to private homesteads for use, sale or any other purpose.
The police urge motorists to exercise caution and patience on the roads to prevent such tragic incidents especially in this busy festive season when hoards of people are expected to be travelling.
