Four security guards from Fawcett Security—Benny Nyambi, 52; Brine Matsena, 30; Tapiwa Confidence, 27; and Jephita Chipfunde, 42—are currently detained at Mwenezi Police Station following the mysterious disappearance of a cash box containing $20,000 during a transit mission on October 16, 2024. The cash was being transported from Beitbridge to Mutare.

According to Mwenezi Police Memorandum, The crew led by Benny Nyambi was tasked with transporting the funds from Beitbridge to Mutare when they made the decision to pick up two unknown passengers along the way one male at Lutumba Service Centre and one female at Machiloni in Betbridge.

 After dropping the male passenger at Rutenga and the female at Ngundu, the crew discovered that the cash box, which had been secured in their vehicle, was missing.

Immediately after the alarming discovery, the team returned to Rutenga and reported the incident at the local police post. The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) from Mwenezi promptly took over the case, detaining the crew as suspects.

 The Fawcett team is currently being held at Mwenezi Police Station while the investigation continues.

Detectives are focusing on conducting interviews with the crew members and recovering the stolen cash.

As investigations unfold, authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist in recovering the missing funds and identifying any possible leads regarding the unknown passengers who were picked up during the journey.
