The maiden trophy of the expanded FIFA Club World Cup trophy landed on African soil, as South Africa‘s Mamelodi Sundowns host the tournament’s tour as part of the buildup to the kickoff tournament in USA on June 14 until July 15, 2025.


The entire Sundowns squad witnessed the historic moment when the Club World Cup trophy landed on African soil for the first time.


The Brazilians are amongst the four teams that will represent the African continent in United States of America alongside, the former bronze medalist Ahly, Esperance, and Wydad Casablanca.


Sundowns debuted in this older version of the tournament in 2016 Japan after winning their first CAF Champions league under Pitso Mosimane.


In this upcoming campaign, Sundowns have been drawn in Group F alongside Germany ‘s Borussia Dortmund ,South Korea’s Ulsan and Brazil’s Fluminense FC.


The FIFA Club trophy tour will continue with its tour in Africa, as Cairo, Egypt will be its next stop on February 10, before going to Esperance, Tunisia and Morocco‘s Wydad Casablanca.
