THE Cancer Association of Zimbabwe, in partnership with FortiQ Medical Centre, is conducting a free cervical and breast cancer screening programme in Beitbridge, sponsored by the Central African Building Society (CABS) and Pick n Pay.
The two-day programme, running from August 31 to September 1, 2026, at FortiQ Medical Centre, 4634 New Medium, is aimed at raising awareness about the importance of regular cancer screening, early detection and taking charge of one’s health.
Females from all walks of life took the opportunity to undergo both breast and cervical cancer screening, highlighting the importance of knowing their health status and seeking medical attention early.
The initiative is also providing women facing financial challenges with access to free cancer screening services.
Women are being encouraged not to allow fear or uncertainty to prevent them from getting screened, as early detection can lead to timely treatment and better health outcomes.
In an interview with Ziyah Media, Health Services Manager Naomi Badza emphasised the importance of women undergoing regular cancer screening.
“It is important for women to undergo cancer screening periodically because regular screening allows for early detection and timely intervention should any abnormalities be identified. We encourage women to make screening a routine part of taking care of their health rather than waiting until they experience symptoms,” said Badza.
She also encouraged women to take advantage of the free screening programme and prioritise their health.
“We want to encourage every woman to take this opportunity seriously. Do not let fear, uncertainty or financial challenges stop you from getting screened. Knowing your health status gives you the power to take action early,” she said.
The Cancer Association of Zimbabwe and FortiQ Medical Centre, together with sponsors CABS and Pick n Pay, are encouraging women in Beitbridge to take advantage of the opportunity, prioritise their health and encourage another woman to get screened.
