A traffic accident involving two Honda vehicles occurred earlier today on the Harare–Beitbridge main road near OJs Shopping Centre, an area that has become a known accident hotspot.
According to eye witnesses, a silver Honda Insight was approaching the Harare–Beitbridge main road from OJs Shopping Centre and was required to give way before joining the highway.
However, the vehicle allegedly cut in front of a white Honda Fit that was already traveling along the main road and was reportedly over-speeding.
The sudden maneuver forced the Honda Fit to lose control and land in the lane of oncoming traffic.
Fortunately, no fatalities were recorded.
However, a white Honda Vezel was damaged in the incident.
The driver of the silver Honda Insight, a woman, sustained minor injuries and was rushed to hospital for medical attention.
Police are currently at the scene managing traffic and conducting investigations into the cause of the crash.
Police referred all questions to their Provincial Spokesperson who was not readily available.
The accident has once again raised concerns over safety along this stretch of the Harare–Beitbridge main road, which has been flagged as a frequent accident zone.
With traffic volumes expected to increase significantly during the festive season as people travel, authorities are being urged to take swift action.
