Harare – The Institute of African Knowledge (INSTAK) has announced the upcoming publication of The Chimurenga Encyclopaedia, a groundbreaking work that chronicles the comprehensive history of the First, Second, and Third Chimurenga. This huge research initiative is set to become a definitive resource for scholars, researchers, and enthusiasts alike collected and told from an African perspective.

According to INSTAK, The Chimurenga Encyclopaedia will delve beyond mere events and dates, “providing in-depth accounts of African nationalism and its role in shaping the Chimurenga movements, the formation and ideology of Zimbabwean liberation movements, political, diplomatic, and military events of the First and Second Chimurenga and spiritual dimensions and legislative landmarks associated with the Chimurenga.”

INSTAK is thus inviting experts from various fields to contribute to the Consultative Forum on June 19, 2024, at Heritage Village in Liberation City, Harare. Participants will enrich the production process and contribute entries to the publication.

“Interested individuals with expertise in African History, Languages, Anthropology, and related fields are encouraged to express their interest by June 12, 2024.”

The Chimurenga Encyclopaedia is a ground breaking initiative that it seeks to tell the Zimbabwean stories from a local angle testament to INSTAK’s commitment to promoting African knowledge and understanding.
