Intotal Band and Takura have been confirmed as replacements for Jah Prayzah and 3G The Band at the Jacaranda Music Festival, which kicks off today in Harare.
The development follows Jah Prayzah’s withdrawal from the three-day festival after a recent tragedy and the loss of Wicknell Chivayo, which has deeply affected the musician and his team.
Jah Prayzah announced his withdrawal in a statement shared on Facebook, saying he and his band were not in a position to perform at the moment.
“It is with a heavy heart that I share that 3G The Band and I will unfortunately not be able to perform at Jacaranda Music Festival today,” he said.
“Following the recent tragedy and loss that has deeply affected me and the entire team, we are simply not in a position to go on stage at this time.”
The announcement came a day after the musician postponed his much-anticipated wedding, which had been scheduled to take place over the weekend.
Despite their withdrawal, Jah Prayzah urged fans who had planned to attend the festival to continue supporting the event.
He also expressed gratitude to the organisers for their understanding and support during the difficult period.
“We would like to sincerely thank the Jacaranda Music Festival team for their understanding and support during this difficult time,” he said.
“The festival continues as planned, and to everyone who had intended to attend, please still go out and support Jacaranda Music Festival. We wish the entire team a successful event.”
Intotal Band and Takura will now step in to fill the gap left by the musician and his band as the festival proceeds with its programme.
The Jacaranda Music Festival runs from October 2 to October 4 in Harare, bringing together local and international performers for three days of live entertainment.
Jah Prayzah also thanked fans and well-wishers for the messages of comfort and support he has received, acknowledging their kindness as he and his team continue to mourn.
